CWD is looking for an Accountant to join our exceptionally talented and collaborative team! Reporting to the Accounting & Finance Manager at our Niagara Falls location, the ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and analytical professional, skilled at managing financial reporting, month-end close, and process improvements. This role will be responsible for supporting business decisions through accurate financial analysis and ensuring compliance with ASPE standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Assist with the review and preparation of annual department and corporate budgets, including quarterly and annual variance analysis (budget vs. actual).
- Develop and analyze cash flow forecasts to support business decisions.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial statements in accordance with ASPE standards.
- Partner with other department heads on budgeting and financial analysis, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and reporting accuracy.
Month-End Close
- Prepare and reconcile general ledger (GL) accounts, including inventory adjustments.
- Post required monthly journal entries and assist with month-end close procedures.
- Review financial statements and support the annual external audit process.
- Work closely with the Operations team (OPS) on inventory reconciliations and adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and Canadian accounting standards.
Projects and Process Improvement
- Handle ad hoc projects, including account and statement reconciliations and other corporate initiatives.
- Provide financial analysis to support business decisions and improve departmental efficiency.
- Identify and propose continuous process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
- Assist with documenting and improving departmental procedures.
- Assist with the completion of reports for external parties.
- Contribute to developing new processes to improve accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
Other
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support business objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting for other departments as needed.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects as required.
Qualifications:
- College diploma or university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar accounting role.
- Canadian CPA designation or working toward completion (preferred).
- Experience with ASPE accounting.
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
This is a full-time permanent role working 40 hours a week on-site. Our hours of operation are 8:15am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
